RTG
Cranes Structural Repair & Supervision
Client:
Aqaba Container Terminal (ACT)
At
the Aqaba Container Terminal, Rubber-Tired Gantry (RTG) cranes are the backbone
of logistics, operating under constant heavy-duty cycles and marine
environments. Synergy was contracted to provide full-scale welding repair
supervision and a comprehensive NDT suite to restore the structural integrity
of these critical lifting assets.
The
Technical Edge
We
moved beyond standard testing by providing end-to-end oversight of the repair
process, ensuring that every weld met the high-fatigue requirements of
container handling:
*
Advanced NDT Suite: We deployed VT, MT, and PT to identify surface fatigue
cracks, complemented by Ultrasonic Thickness Testing (UTT) to assess plate
thinning and internal corrosion in the crane’s main girders and legs.
*
Full Welding Supervision: Our experts supervised the entire repair
lifecycle—from qualifying weld procedures to monitoring the actual repair
work—ensuring that all interventions were performed by certified personnel in
accordance with international lifting standards.
The
Result
Our
dual role as both inspectors and supervisors guaranteed that the RTG cranes
were returned to service in peak condition. By certifying the repairs through
multiple NDT methods, Synergy helped the Aqaba Container Terminal extend the
operational life of their equipment, significantly reducing the risk of
structural failure and ensuring the safety of port operations.
